Big Marv

Marvin has been part of the Texas Produce Industry for over 50 years. His career started in 1968 when first started working for Teddy Bertuca as a sales from 1968-1970 During that time he also was a salesman for Henry Berry out of Uvalde, TX from 1968-1971. After that he worked for Bannworth as a salesman for 2 years from 1970-1972, before starting his own company, Davis Distributing.

When he opened up Davis Distributing in 1972 which he operated out of Mission, TX and California. In 1978 he sold Bannworth's production of Vegetables cantaloupes, onions, cabbage, and broccoli. He did that while operating his own company until 1981 where he focused full time on Davis Distributing in Mission, TX. From 1982-2000 he operated Davis Distributing selling onions and all vegetable production from Mexico and Texas.

During that time his son Michael Davis came to work with him at Davis Distributing but in 2001 they decided to become partners and open up a new father and son company together called Tex-Mex Sales. Marvin was a partner for Tex-Mex Sales for 19 years from 2001-2020 where he eventually retired.

During the 50 years that Marvin was in the produce industry he was proud of his contribution and dedication to the Texas produce industry. He got to accomplish his dream of opening up his company with his son that eventually his granddaughter Kristen Davis came into the business and worked as her mentor during her first years. He loved the work he did and being able to accomplish the American dream of working with his loved ones.

Sadly, Marvin passed away in October 2022. His legacy carries on by his son Michael, and his granddaughter Kristen Davis, and his grandson, Michael Jr. Davis.
